ANA300Y1 - Human Anatomy and Histology (86L, 18P)
Marking Scheme: Four MC term test (2x20%, 2x15%) Two practical examinations (15%each)
Wiley
was an amazing professor- encyclopedia of knowledge delivered with
great anecdotes. As to be expected his notes are all diagrams so heaven
save you if you miss a lecture (because learning the material from a
book is very tedious). Prof. Koeberle subbed in for the neuroanatomy
portion. He was thorough and charming - great lecture notes.
Because
of the nature of the MC tests, expect to learn every detail of the
material and become an expert by the time you leave the class. I find
myself naming muscles and blood vessels on people when I tune out of
conversations. If you're not one for minute details, visualization, or
tough multiple choice stay away.
The
labs were available 24hrs in MedSci and covered most of the major
units. The histology portions (basically the first half of the class)
was rather dry but the specimens from neuro, heart, and the limbs were
fabulous to learn. Fair warning: the specimens are real plastinated
cadavers and the actual lab bell ringers include wet specimens. The
bell ringers were very stressful but manageable if you do your labs consistently.
If
you're interested in med school I highly recommend this class. All of
the examination for anatomy will be lab exams so this is great prep
with one of UofT's finest profs.
