EEB - Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Courses
A&S Ecology & Evolutionary Biology Course Descriptions
EEB263Y1 - Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy (24L, 72P, 24T)
De Iulius
I felt like this course was kind of divided
into three sections: first we dealt with the taxonomic group of the
vertebrates and a bit on their ecological variations, then we talked
about the basic embryology of vertebrate zygotes, and then for the rest
of the majority of the course there were basic lectures on each of the
organ systems and how they evolved/adapted in certain vertebrates.
There are definitely a lot of things to memorize, and you will
basically be required to memorize the entire lab manual (200 pages) by
the end of this course. Having said this, Prof. De Iulius is
well-oranized, and his lectures are concise and to the point, and if
you have a voice-recorder, you should have no problem in keeping up
with the material. You'll also get to dissect the dogfish, pigeon, cat,
mudpuppy, perch, lamprey, and frog in the practicals.
