LMP - Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology Courses
A&S Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology Course Descriptions
LMP301 - Intro Clinical Biochemistry
Yip, Fu, Various
Marking Scheme: 25% TT1, 25% TT2, 50% Exam.
I have mixed feelings about this course. Basically it is just a bunch of random facts on slides, and everything must be memorized WORD FOR WORD. You can do well knowing this fact (or learn the hard way after TT1). No textbook. Lecturers progressively get worse as the semester progresses. Take this course if you like (READ: LOVE) memorization.
Rating: 4/5
LMP410 - Neurodegenerative Diseases
McLaurin, Staff
Marking Scheme: Test 1 = 40%, exam = 60%.
- Great course for anyone who is interested in neurodegenerative diseases/neuroanatomy/the aging brain. I really enjoyed the lectures, although sometimes they were quite detailed, the lecturers were pretty good so you at least understood what was going on. The text format was not bad, high average. Exam not so great, but it was doable with a bit of studying. You get a full range of diseases, including some pretty rare ones.

- This class is okay. I did not enjoy it a lot, especially near the end. It is very cell/molecular stuff and very clinical. If you are into that, you'll probably like it. High average in the end though. I found it challenging to study for this class because every lecture was a different prof and it was hard to sort of figure out what would be tested - everyone kind of tested different things and the exam was kind of disorganized in that sense. But it was alright. It did however make me realize I never want to do that kind of research in my life (and the reason I'm taking all of these courses is to figure this question out, so that was successful!). I enjoyed the professors though, they all seemed engaging and it was interesting listening in class, even at 10am in the morning.
